Along with all the other things that occupy a basement, eight-hundred pictures chronicling my final year of college -- inglorious but intimate-- were drowned in a basement flood. After being submerged for a month, the water was pumped away. Nearly everything was doomed to mildew. The prints were covered in slime. I washed them off, and one by one, fingernailed them apart.
